This talk on Prayer is the forty ninth in a series of lectures on the Catholic Catechism recorded in 1965 by Archbishop Fulton J Sheen in the privacy of his own study and first broadcast under the title 'Life is Worth Living'. A master communicator, Fulton Sheen recorded this insightful overview of the teachings of the Holy Catholic Church.
Prayer is a lifting of the mind and heart to God. It is a dialogue. It doesn’t have much to do with sensations, emotions, or feelings. Prayer has different forms: vocal, meditation, and contemplation. When we pray, we put ourselves under God’s care and receive blessings. In prayer we must both speak and listen. The motive of prayer should be love.
