The centrality of Christ in history is revealed in the New Testament. The Church did not come out of the Bible but began with oral preaching. Our Lord did not write because he was not an author but an authority. The Church existed before the Gospels and in fact composed the Gospels. There are four Gospels because each was addressed to a different audience.
